STATE CUP EXPERIENCE FOR YOUTH SIDES

Avalon was well represented as the 2021 Football NSW State Cup kicked off last weekend. With the 2020 edition cancelled due to COVID-19, it was a step into the unknown for many teams making their first entry into statewide competition.

AL1s SECURE BIG WIN

The Men’s AL1 side went into Saturday’s home game against a much fancied Manly Vale looking to register their first Careel Bay win of the season. At the end of the game they had done exactly that, coming from behind to win 2-1.
Manly Vale had the better of the early exchanges and went 1-0 up around the 20 minute mark. This seemed to be a lightbulb moment for the lads who after the goal started controlling and maintaining possession and this combined with the pressing of the Manly Vale defence, started to make inroads. Rob Fleming’s side created a number of chances which ultimately led to Jack Murata scoring his 2nd of the season just before half time.
