The 2019 Presentation Day will be Saturday 7th September at Avalon Public School (times to follow).
All our junior sides will be presented with their awards for the season that day, and we’ll also be presenting our perpetual trophies. These are individual awards for players/officials/members of the community for their contribution on and off the field. And we want you to have your say, as we call for nominations!
If you have any nominations for any of the following categories please email them to president@avalonsoccerclub.com.au
Please include the person’s team/role in the nomination and the reason why you would like to nominate them. 

All nominations to be received no later than close of business Tuesday 13th August. All nominations will be considered and the winners will be chosen by the Executive Committee. 

Note:- Perpetual Trophies are for Competition Teams (U12/W12 and above).

It was a weekend of triumph for the Mighty Reds, as Avalon
teams tasted success up and down the peninsula.

On Saturday the U16/2s side confirmed what many already knew was coming, completing a remarkable 14 from 14 winning record and an incredible +74 goal difference to claim the league title.

And Monday night saw them joined by the W14/1s who claimed a make up win over Curl Curl to take an unassailable lead at the top of the league and also claim the season’s honours, with just one defeat.

But scene stealers were the W18/1 side – already league
winners with a 12 from 12 record – who created history, taking home the
Football New South Wales State Cup title after a gutsy 1-0 win over
Shellharbour.

When 9 year old Jensen Lambeth was recently diagnosed with Hepatoblastoma – a rare form of liver tumour – the first reaction amongst this local community was one of shock. The aspiring, young goalkeeper is a popular young member of his junior team, and his local school, and the news has a huge shock to the everyone.

But after the shock of the news subsided, the community in typical fashion came together to look forward and the ways they could support Jensen. His family set up a Go Fund Me page to raise funds and awareness to support Jensen, his parents and two younger siblings. And within 48 hours, the goal had been reached after a remarkable level of support shown from the local Northern Beaches community, and from the wider soccer family.

Following a hugely successful edition in 2018, Avalon are once again hosting the MWFA W11 gala day at Careel Bay this Sunday 2nd June, from 8.30am-3pm.
The best teams from across the peninsula will be in action throughout the day with the mighty reds looking to put on a show and take out a trophy!

The canteen and BBQ will be cranking and the Vanuatu girls will be down with the cake stall and face painting.
It’s sure to be a great day, so come on down – maybe leave the car at home – and cheer on the girls!

Last weekend Curl Curl and the MWFA held the Tombsy Cup a charity day for former Wallaby Richard Tombs, who was made a quadriplegic last season playing O35’s in the MWFA competition.

Alongside sporting legends like Craig Johnston, Steve Waugh, Nick Farr-Jones and Adam Goodes, plus TV stars Adam Peacock and Bill Woods, the Avalon O45’s came out to play in the Tombsy Cup, and ended up taking home the Plate Competition on penalties.

More importantly the team played their part in raising $100,000 for Richard on his long road to recovery. It was a fabulous turnout from the whole Northern Beaches community and we were proud to play our part.

Avalon’s O35 team played Manly Vale today (Saturday) in a tight and hard fought game at Cromer Park in a pre-season charity friendly, raising well over $500 on the day for Bear Cottage.

Every year the two teams play each other in pre-season friendlies, and will also face each other this season as both are competing in the O35 division 5 competition. 

Avalon’s Dave Hancock said, “Whenever we play each other the Bear Cottage Cup is presented to the winner of the game and we all put in money for this very worthwhile charity. We’ve been doing this now for over 5 years. We’ve got a great relationship with the Manly Vale boys, but don’t get me wrong, once the game starts all friendship goes out of the window for 90 minutes.”

Training

Fields must not be used for training when closed by the council.   For the latest information on the fields, please head to the NB council website https://www.northernbeaches.nsw.gov.au/things-to-do/sports-and-recreation/sportsfields-status  

Please note: Fields may remain closed for a few days after a lot of rain, so please check even if it has not rained that day.  

Matches

 
All matches must be assumed on unless you are informed otherwise. Sometimes games are moved to another grounds when the scheduled ground is closed. You can not assume your game is off even if the scheduled ground is closed.
 
The MWFA will inform the Club Competition Secretary of any changes. The Competition Secretary will inform the Age Coordinator and the Age coordinator will then inform your Team Manager.
 
Please do not contact the Competition Secretary directly as they are very busy getting messages out.
