FOOTBALL ACTIVITY SUSPENDED

As per NSW Government and Football NSW directive, all football activity will be suspended until 11:59pm Friday 9th July. What this means for you.

No matches will be played.
No team training  is permitted at Careel Bay.
No players involved in training activity will be covered by the Personal Accident insurance.
Club meetings must be held via zoom / online video platform.
Make-up development/select training sessions are cancelled.

We have every hope and intention of resuming our competitions on July 10th, providing restrictions allow us to do so. More than anyone, the Avalon community knows what this feeling is like, and knows what’s needed to be done to get through this difficult time and get back to “normal”. Lets all work together to ensure we can be back out there as soon as possible.
Remember our club charity partner One Eighty are there to help.

WAL1S HIT TOP SPOT!

After a great long weekend of football, our senior women’s team hit top spot for the first time this season!

Avalon WAL1’s travelled away for the much anticipated top of the table clash with Curl Curl on sunday. Before the game Avalon were 1 point behind an undefeated Curl Curl, however after the 90+ minutes a perfectly weighted free kick from Zara Harrison released the lightning fast Lily Faithfull who calmly slotted home the winner.

There were some tense moments for the Avalon back line in the closing 10 minutes, however another clean sheet for keeper Eve Robertson and the defence, ably lead by Jade Philip and Lara Haygarth, kept Curly at bay. The game ended with with Avalon nearly doubling their lead, with Annabel Ritchie unfortunately hitting the bar, but it did nothing to prevent a deserved win.

Not the prettiest of games from the dominant passing and possession style the girls

STATE CUP EXPERIENCE FOR YOUTH SIDES

Avalon was well represented as the 2021 Football NSW State Cup kicked off last weekend. With the 2020 edition cancelled due to COVID-19, it was a step into the unknown for many teams making their first entry into statewide competition.
Our U13/2 side drew Northern Suburbs powerhouse Northbridge Saints in Round 2, with the game played at Cromer Park. Avalon eventually went down 2-0, but did the club proud with a dogged, determined effort in an enjoyable spectacle.

Coach Paul Wood is rightly proud of his team and the support of sponsor MCK Architects back again with the team this year.
Elsewhere our U14s also faced a tough trip to Quakers Hill to face Ponds FC, riding high in the Blacktown Association. Despite losing 6-2, the team received a glowing endorsement from their opposition coach who claimed Avalon were “the best team they had played all season.”
The State Cup offers our teams terrific
