On Saturday 22nd February, a select team of primarily Avalon Soccer Club players, comprising over 45 individuals, secured the club’s first trophy of the 2025 season. Avalon won the Over 45A division over a hard fought three games on a hot day versus Turramurra United (drew 0-0), Harbord FC (Avalon won 3-1) and Belrose-Terrey Hills FC (Avalon won 2-1). Winning two games and drawing one game meant that Avalon and Turramurra were joint top. However, Avalon narrowly won the comp due to scoring more goals.
Avalon’s Dave Hancock said, “this is an important comp that allows players of our age to get fit for the upcoming season and also learn how to save lives if a player suffers a cardiac arrest. It’s managed very well every year by the MWFA legend, John Tansley.”
The victorious team was made up of Avalon’s Dave Hancock, David Simpson, Scott Robertson, Paul Wood, Dale Beaumont, Tom

2025 Player Development
We are delighted to announce the return of Avalon SC Player Development, with the first term of the year kicking off in March.
At Avalon Soccer Club, coaching is centered on the holistic development of players, emphasising the mastery of the 4 core skills:
• 1st Touch
• Striking the Ball
• Running with the Ball
• 1v1 Situations
Sessions are designed using the AVSC Coaches Manual, ensuring that each practice is structured to build technical proficiency, tactical awareness, and confidence on the ball.
Players are given the opportunity to develop these foundational skills through engaging, game-related drills that encourage creativity, decision-making, and a strong understanding of the game.
By consistently reinforcing these core areas, Avalon Soccer Club creates a progressive and supportive environment where players can grow, refine their abilities, and reach their full potential on the field.
In March, on Monday and Friday we are offering an additional training session right here at Careel Bay, run by

It’s a wonderful opportunity for all our players – both new and returning – to dust off the football cobwebs and have a game before the real action starts on April 5th.
The full draw is available HERE, and if any teams have issues with their match timing, please contact your age coordinator.
Also Thursday night sees the Careel Bay Clubhouse host our yearly Managers Night. The times for this year are:-

7.30pm to 8.15pm – U12/W12 to SENIORS
Every team’s manager needs to be there for the meeting for the latest news and information sharing from the club, as well as to collect

We currently have no timeline for a resolution of the Active Kids/Play Football issue, therefore we are implementing the following process to enable registrations to continue.
If a parent wishes to register for Avalon Soccer Club and use a new active kids voucher valid from 01/02/2024, they are to register their child and use the pay offline function.
They then need to email Registrar@avalonsoccerclub.com.au with the active kids voucher for the club to process and we will then send them the final total and payment details.
This function is ONLY for parents seeking to use vouchers from the new scheme.
